Easiest way on updating offsets

Recommended Posts

NOTE*: This method will only work from a previous TU to another (e.g. TU7 > TU8)
A lot of people still don't even know how to update a god damn offset. So here is an easy method that works 8/10 of the time.
Things you need:
1. TU7 xex
2. TU8 xex
3. IDA Pro v6.1
4. TU7 Offset
5. TU8 Offset
Step 1:
Open IDA Pro, & open your TU7 XEX inside it. Choose PowerPC (ppc) as the Processor Type.
Should look like this
Next, just click "Set" and the "OK", Just wait a couple of seconds for it to load.
After its loaded it should look like this
Next, choose your TU7 Offset (in this case ill be using TeleportPlayer(821E81C0)).
After you have chosen your offset, Press "G" in IDA to jump to an address, copy & paste the offset is & wait about 2 seconds for it to locate it.
what it should look like
After I jumped to 821E81C0

Now, load your TU8 XEX with the same settings are I previously said for the TU7 xex. And jump to the same address again, but, this time it should be in a different place
After I jumped to 821E81C0 in a TU8 XEX
NOTE*: I have things labelled in my TU8 XEX, so if you have never opened your TU8 xex before and labelled stuff, you should have nothing labelled.
Now go back to the TU7 xex you see "mflr r12" (Move from link register)? copy that to your clipboard. Now, go back to your TU8 xex (where you last left of, of course) and press CTRL+T to Text Search.
Everything set-up
Now press Search, with-in a second or two it should of stopped on the closest move from link register (mflr) 8/10 this is where the function is located in TU8. Now, just compare the two functions, if they both look identical, you have updated the previous Offset to TU8. The TU8 Offset is 821E8230.
